Digital Mobility & Data
Unlocking the Future of European Mobility: Fair Access to In-Vehicle Data
The mobility sector is undergoing a digital transformation, with vehicles generating vast amounts of real-time data. This data can drive smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility solutions, but restricted access to in-vehicle data creates barriers to competition and innovation.
Tyres Europe and its members are committed to advancing Europe’s connected, digital, and sustainable mobility ecosystem.
A fair and competitive market for in-vehicle data is key to unlocking the full potential of smart mobility and ensuring Europe’s leadership in automotive innovation.
To ensure a competitive and innovative mobility ecosystem, Tyres Europe urges policymakers to:
Level the playing field
Ensure equal access to in-vehicle data for all market players
Empower vehicle users
Give consumers the right to control their data and service choices
Ensure transparency
Implement a standardized framework for cross-brand data access
Strengthen cybersecurity
Guarantee secure, standardized data access to protect user privacy

Tyre-as-a-Service (TaaS)
Tyre-as-a-Service (TaaS) leverages real-time tyre data to enhance mobility and sustainability. By collecting and analyzing tyre health, performance, and environmental conditions, TaaS enables:
- Predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and increasing road safety
- Optimised tyre performance, improving energy efficiency and cutting CO₂ emissions
- Smart fleet management, supporting sustainable urban mobility
Discover our 2019 industry report on TaaS, co-authored with Quantalyse, highlighting connected mobility advancements.
Digital Product Passport (DPP)
A Game-Changer for the Circular Economy
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) aims at facilitating circular economy solutions by tracking the lifespan of all products sold in the EU (except food and medicines) and advising consumers on best practices for recycling.
Tyres Europe supports developing a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for tyres, and other digital tools, to increase transparency, enable circular-economy practices, and comply with forthcoming EU information and reporting requirements.
DPP Implementation & Key Features:
Supply chain transparency
Tyres Europe supports digital solutions that improve tyre traceability and life-cycle management, and that deliver the information required under EU legislation to the entire value chain.
Reliable information
The information should be accessible to relevant stakeholders, including customers, regulators, market surveillance authorities, retreaders, recyclers, and End-of-life tyres collectors.
Standardised data sharing
Digital tools must be based on common standards and interoperable systems.
DPP Service Providers & Data Governance
To facilitate efficient DPP management, tyre manufacturers will entrust DPP copies to a DPP service provider, ensuring:
- Data security through robust cybersecurity measures
- Alignment with CEN/CENELEC DPP standards
- Interoperability across supply chains via the Global Data Service Organisation (GDSO)
Tyres Europe calls for sustainable financing models to fairly distribute costs, especially for SMEs and consumers. A clear roadmap for DPP implementation is essential to ensure legal clarity and timely compliance.
